Isn't this a cool necklace? I found it at a Forever 21 store. Unfortunately is was
entirely in the gold color. I loved the dimension of it - but me being me - needed color - so I used fingernail polish. Here is the necklace while I was working on it. Several coats of polish can be layered for depth of color. I used the Opaque paint pen because I couldn't find yellow polish in my little hometown. It worked fine. It's amazing what colors of nail polish are out there. I found most of my colors in a
dollar store - but keep your eyes open when shopping - you'll be
surprised how many
different colors there are.

Here is the finished necklace - Looks good! Not too bad for a $12.00 necklace. Now I have to make a bracelet - will show you when I finish.

Wow... That is really beautiful! You did a great job. I have used nail polish on jewelry when the metal has bugged me, but never as a means to beautify... Very Glam, will have to use this idea and share with you sometime! Thanks!
This is really cool! I bought a brooch at a thrift store (later saw it in a shop for $35) and wasn't wearing it because it's 1)gold and 2)has a couple of scratches. OOOOHHH can't wait to see what color I can paint it. If I post about it on my blog I'll link to yours if you don't mind??
Cool! I am going to link to this from http://dollarstorecrafts.com on Saturday. Thanks for the great idea - I love how your necklace turned out!
That turned out beautiful. Great job!
I love what you did! Looks really great, thanks for sharing the idea!
Oh I love it! Found you through Dollar Store Crafts. I run into the same problem of the whole- thats really a boring color thing so this will be great.
I am wondering...is it not tacky? I tried using nail polish on something and it still felt tacky (sticky).
Also...doesn't it smell like nail polish?
I love the idea, and how vibrant the colours are. Thanks!

Thanks for your question, the polish has to cure - not just dry - this could be a few days depending on humidity. There really is no harsh noticable odar - at least that I have found....
Hope this helps...
Cheryl, if you read this, I would be curious to know if you sealed the color with a glaze of some sort to make it permanent. I had my own idea for jewelry making using nail polish and would like to sell my pieces, but obviously I would want the color to be durable. Also, about how long did it take for the nail polish to cure, and did you cure for a few days with each layer or only after all layers were completed? Would greatly appreciate your expertise. Lovely job on the flower necklace! :) ~ Lindsay
Cheryl that is so cute and clever! I love vintage enamel flower pins, now I can make my own. Congrats on the cover.
I love it!!!! I'm so inspired right now.
